The Barry clan from Grange, Fermoy, Castletownroche, Ballncollig, England and New York came together in The Wagon Tavern, Fermoy on Tuesday night for a family reunion, that coincided with the Government's nationwide 'Gathering' initiative.

Catherine Doyle (nee Barry) from Uplands was the main organiser and thanks to good planning and lots of phone calls, she succeeded in bringing the different strands of her family together - her sister, Pauline Lawton travelled from New York, with her other sibling, Mary Cope journeying from across the Irish Sea; another sister Ellen Murray made the short trip from Cork. Brothers Billy came from Ballincollig and home bird, Sam from out the road in Grange. Catherine's sister, Margaret Willett was unable to travel from England.

The Barrys along with extended family, neighbours and friends had a fantastic night as guests of Tom Aherne and staff at The Wagon Tavern in Fermoy. Tom's sister, Ellen looked after the food and a beautiful cake was made to mark the occasion.

"I'm glad I did it, we had a fabulous time, it was great to see so many familiar and happy faces" Catherine said.

Everyone present danced into the early hours with resident DJ Timmy Flynn providing the tunes.
