Following a shock announcement last week in The Avondhu that Ballindangan Hall was in danger of closing, the community have rallied together to keep the hall open and it is now ‘business as usual’.

Last week, the committee were at the end of their tether and they had decided that if no new people (outside a core group of less than five people) came to a meeting on Tuesday night, that the hall would close its doors for good.

To the delight of the committee, around 30 people attended the meeting and there was great interest in not only keeping Ballindangan Hall open, but in reviving it so that it will be a feature for future generations to come.

Chairman Tony Buckley told The Avondhu that the meeting went really well and the current committee delegated duties out to those who wanted to play an active part in the hall. Tony himself stepped down as chairman ‘to let a younger person take the role and bring the hall forward’.
