Avondhu readers are certainly spoilt for choice this weekend regarding entertainment as it comes to them in all codes and hues. With festivals and Gathering events in numerous locations around our readership area, we would encourage everyone to take advantage of the enormous selection of events on offer.

A great deal of planning and preparation goes in to making these festivals attractive. The organisers generally are full of praise for the support they get locally from the general public and local businesses who sponsor the various events. The latter should not be forgotten because while events are staged mainly for your enjoyment, the hard pressed businesses who have contributed so generously in these fraught trading conditions, depend very much on that support being reciprocated by the public in their respective areas.

This being the busiest bank holiday weekend of the year, we are reminded to exercise extreme caution when out and about, whether as drivers or pedestrians. That said, let us support our local festival and make this a happy, safe and enjoyable weekend for all!
