All championships in the Avondhu Division are now completed. Already Charleville have taken the Co JBFC (1), Clyda Rovers the Co Premier IFC title. Mitchelstown junior A footballers are in action this Saturday in the Co semi-final where they face Glenbower Rovers in Pairc Ui Rinn. Glenbower came through last week with a 0-7 to 0- 6 win over Belgooly. Glanworth are also in contention for Co IFC honours they are awaiting Kanturk or Glanmire in the Co quarter. Buttevant minor A footballers have reached the Rebel Óg final against Castlehaven. Taking all things into consideration it has been a very good year for the division.

Last Thursday night the divisional board held the man of the match function for the 6 Cavanagh’s Fermoy sponsored leagues at Cavanagh’s Showrooms, Fermoy. Twenty four of the twenty six clubs were in attendance. Barry Aherne, board vice chairman and chairman of the Avondhu-Imokilly Leagues, spoke of the sponsorship with the clubs having gained nearly €400,000 since the sponsorship began. He thanked Cavanagh’s for their kind sponsorship. John O’Donnell, board chairman, spoke on the importance of the sponsorship and he congratulated all clubs on having the finals played on time. The sponsorship added greatly to the competitive edge of teams involved and he felt the standard had improved greatly. He hoped it would continue for the years ahead.

Donal O’Keeffe spoke on behalf of the Imokilly clubs. He felt that being involved has really brought on the Imokilly leagues with all deadlines being met. Conor O’Keeffe addressed the gathering on behalf of Cavanagh’s. He apologised on behalf of Tom Cavanagh who had to attend a family function. He stated that Cavanagh’s were delighted to be involved and said how Mr Cavanagh would talk everyday when he would see a league final result or report on the daily or weekly newspapers and how they were finished according to the plan laid out at the beginning of the year.

Presentations were then made to the six winning clubs and the 24 man of the match presentations.

The six clubs were: Div 1 HL Sarsfields, Div 2 HL Doneraile, Div 3 HL Buttevant; Div 1 FL Mitchelstown, Div 2 FL Glanworth and Division 3 FL Abbey Rovers.
