Forgotten writers of Fermoy

Paula Lynch, Alan Martin and Irene Kelleher with the Fermoy Library audience they wowed with their performance of extracts from Jane Austin’s Pride and Prejudice.
Decked out in period costume, talented young thespians, Paula Lynch, Alan Martin and Irene Kelleher re-enacted scenes from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice in Fermoy Library last week.
The normally tranquil surroundings reverberated to the stirring sounds of characters that have earned a unique place in literary history. A respectful and appreciative audience sat transfixed by performances which would have done justice to any town or city theatre.
For staff at Fermoy Library it was a step into the unknown and they were taken aback at the demand for the limited amount of free seats on offer. For an audience that represented a cross section of Irish society it was a rare treat that left them looking for more.
