The Office of Public Works (OPW) has not in any way interfered with the weir in the river Blackwater or the fish pass during flood relief works, members of the Fermoy Electoral Area Committee of Cork County Council were assured at their April monthly meeting last week.
Councillor Kevin O'Keeffe raised the matter. Senior resident engineer on the project, Ger Barry, said both were the responsibility of Fermoy Town Council and the only thing the OPW had done was some temporary fish pass works on its behalf.
