It was reminiscent of the Proms except that those enjoying the music looked a lot more comfortable!

Ardkeen and Barry's Boreen residents were treated to their very own recital by the Fermoy Concert Band on Monday night and they came out in large numbers to enjoy the music in bright sunshine on the balmy summer's evening.

People brought out their lawn and deckchairs to enjoy the performance of the band who set up on the green in front of the Ardkeen houses. Sandwiches and refreshments made by residents gave the proceedings a real community feel.

It was a homecoming performance for band conductor Ruairi Dineen in every sense of the word - he's a resident of Ardkeen. The award-winning band holds a number of public performances throughout the year in various different parts of the town.
