Regrettably, suicide continues to affect thousands of families throughout Ireland. Undoubtedly a sensitive subject, it's important to get the message across that there are organisations in a position to assist those in distress. One such group is 'The 3Ts' - Turn The Tide) Of Suicide - which was set up in 2003. It receives no Government funding, however, thanks to the public's generosity they are able to staff a 24 hour helpline for those in difficulty. It's a free phone number, 1800 247100.

GENEROSITY

A very successful fashion show held in Araglin Community Hall recently helped to raise €1,011 for 'The 3Ts'. Joint organisers were Mary and Helen Leddy. Mary and Helen received great support from an extensive circle of family and friends and together with some very generous sponsors, they were able to generate the all important funds. The ladies are especially grateful to management and staff of The Wardrobe in Mitchelstown for sponsoring 'best dressed lady'.

On Friday afternoon last in The Firgrove Hotel, Mitchelstown, Mary and Helen handed over the cheque to 'The 3Ts' representative, Sara Kelly. Cork native, Sara, said she was delighted with the substantial contribution and she thanked everyone associated with the fashion show in Araglin. The hope is that this contribution will help 'The 3Ts' staff reach out to individuals, who for a variety of reasons may be feeling isolated, vulnerable or hurt.
