Having been part of a very successful scrap metal collection last year, there was some surprise that Araglin GAA were 'going back to the well' so soon.

However, on the evidence of last week's response, the club seems to be on a winner again with plenty more 'junk' emerging from the hills, glens and farmyards.

The good news for collectors is that demand for metals of all kinds remains very strong and it's hard to blame clubs and voluntary groups for mobilizing themselves to cater for this lucrative market.

With its proliferation of farms, Araglin is a happy hunting ground for scrap metal collectors and the local GAA club is on track to do very nicely from their latest fundraising venture. The club are supplying all metal collected to the long established, STR company, who operate a busy recycling business between Mitchelstown and Kildorrery.

The scrap metal collection ends this weekend and club officers wish to thank everyone who has supported the collection to date - all suitable items can be left at the community field. Where larger items are concerned collection can be arranged.
