Following the huge success of last weekend’s concert at Saint George’s Arts Centre in Mitchelstown, this coming weekend will see the amazing Cork soprano, Majella Cullagh in concert with the BelCanto Choir.
The choir, which is made up mostly of local singers under the direction of Audrey Robinson, has chosen a selection of favourite Christmas carols and other popular music to perform for the concert. It will be their first public performance in two years.
On the last occasion they performed in Saint George’s, it snowed outside, adding a touch of extra magic to what proved to be a very special occasion. Little did anyone think then, that performances of this kind would become such a rarity in 2020 and 2021.
This time around, the concert will again have a baby grand piano, but on this occasion Majella will sing the majority of the carols and songs. These have been specially chosen to lift spirits and help people get into the Christmas spirit for what will be a very special night. It’s going to be one of the last musical events in the town for the foreseeable future.
Tickets are still available for the concert, which is strictly following Government Covid guidelines by reducing audience capacity to half, and requiring Covid checking and tracing for all those attending. The audience members will also be required to wear their masks at all times.
Tickets are available on Eventbrite, or can be purchased by calling 087-8113611, from Reidy’s Kitchen Garden, or from the Favourite and Scullery.
