Note the date – Saturday, September 14 – that’s when Paul Linehan, Ashley Keating, Rory Murphy and Cian Corbett, collectively know as The Frank and Walters, will take to the stage of The Palace Theatre Fermoy in what will be their first visit to the Blackwater town.
Earlier this year, the band was named ‘Person of the Year’ in Cork and were later asked to lead the St Patrick’s Day Parade as Grand Marshals which was a great honour for the lads.
Formed in Cork, the lads have been spreading joy and happiness with their Indie-pop music for over 30 years now. ‘The Franks’ became world famous in the 90s Indie scene and have a catalogue of hundreds of songs from seven studio albums. They still play sold-out gigs all over Europe.
The Frank and Walters appeared in the UK music show Top of the Pops and their support bands have included Radiohead and Suede and add to that, Noel Gallagher was their roadie, albeit for one night only.
Their concerts are quirky and fun and you can be sure to hear all their hits, incuding ‘This Is Not A Song’, ‘After All’, ‘Walters Trip’, ‘Fashion Crisis Hits New York’ and ‘Stages’.
The Frank and Walters, made up of Paul Linehan (lead vocals and bass), Ashley Keating (drums), Rory Murphy (lead Guitar) and Cian Corbett (keyboards), are hugely looking forward to their Fermoy gig which is being hosted bt the Village Arts & Theatre Club.
Tickets (€25) on sale from the Palace Theatre box office on 025-32042 and at The Avondhu offices in Fermoy and Mitchelstown from Wednesday. next.
