Rural Bartlemy is an unlikely starting point for one of the region’s longest established bands. Granted, personnel have come and gone, however, The Zodiaks’ spirit remains alive and well – as is the band’s founder and leading light, Eamon Hoskins.
Like many others, Eamon’s musical awakening came in the 1960s – an era when Ireland eventually shook off decades of stagnation to engage with the influences of the outside world.
Brought up on ceili music, traditional airs, outdoor stages and impromptu sessions around the fireside, Eamon was an eager convert to rock and roll – a musical revolution that shocked the older generation and horrified an ultra conservative clergy.
