For a number of years Anglesboro has been a vintage stronghold and it comes as no surprise to learn that enthusiasts have decided to formally establish Anglesboro Vintage Club. The majority of members are 'tractor men' and it's this core group who are actively involved in organising a Christmas tractor run on Friday, 27th December.

The Avondhu was invited to this year's launch which took place at Tom McGrath's residence last Saturday. Tom and his fellow club members managed to gather up a fine selection of tractors, in addition to a beautifully preserved VW Beetle - Santa was also in attendance, he arrived by ride-on lawnmower!

When the photoshoot was over, all the tractors departed except for the static model parked up on Tom's lawn. This unusual creation isn't easy to categorise, however, it's proving to be a very effective way of promoting the forthcoming run and has raised many a motorist's eyebrow as they travel along the Mitchelstown to Ballylanders road.

SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO

Proceeds from the run go to Anglesboro Community Council who will be hoping they replicate the success of previous years on December 27th. The run starts and finishes in Anglesboro village and registration commences at 10.30am in  Anglesobro Hall - vehicles leave at 11.30am sharp. As usual, participants will be well looked after with refreshments once they've completed the course. For further details contact Dan on 086-2549014, Tom 086-8186769 or Mike 086-3284033.
