Local councillors have decisively rejected a statement by An Post, explaining the reasons for moving its dispatch/sorting office from Mitchelstown to Fermoy, as ‘wholly unacceptable’ and ‘an insult to the people of Mitchelstown’.

In July, following a meeting of Fermoy Municipal Authority, councillors agreed to send a letter to An Post, asking them to explain their motive and logic behind the relocation of the centre which, they said, will ‘downsize the town and inconvenience people who routinely use the service’.
