Áine has sights firmly set on World Championships in Canada

Ballyporeen's Áine O'Mahony, who rows for Fermoy RC, will be competing for Ireland this month at the U23 World Championships in Canada.

Ballyporeen local, Áine O’Mahony, is preparing to head to Canada to row for Ireland at the U23 World Championships which commence on August 18.

Taking place at St Catharine’s, Canada, the Fermoy Rowing Club member will participate in the lightweight women’s double alongside Lee Valley RC’s Sophia Monahan.

Speaking with The Avondhu, Áine said that it still hasn’t fully sunken in that she will be competing for her country at the World Championships in the coming weeks, stating that she ‘couldn’t believe it’ when she was announced in the squad.
