The club experienced a quiet weekend on the playing front last weekend with no games played. This weekend sees the juniors return to action in their remaining league program and the U12s are scheduled to play a friendly this coming Thursday v Fermoy U12s in advance of the cup semi final next weekend v Castlebridge Celtic. As usual the group text will advise players, with more information as it becomes available.

U12S IN CUP SEMI

Celtic U12s play Castlebridge Celtic FC in the cup semi-final the weekend after the bank holiday weekend, so a friendly this Thursday is on the cards v Fermoy AFC. The cup game v Castlebridge is put back until early April and this will be a huge game for the lads, as the last encounter with the East Cork side saw them fall to their heaviest defeat of the season, when losing 8-2 to an exceptionally strong team.

Anyway, the lads will give it their best shot when the time comes, so watch this space folks. Note: Possible friendly this Thursday evening 5.30 kick off. As usual the group text will advise.

SHEILA FLYNN PARK DEVELOPMENT

Engineers have now completed their preliminary tests on the site with percolation tests, etc having been completed with positive results, so the next step will be to wait for the drawings and plans to be drafted for review with the local householders to discuss final plans and ensure all concerns and inputs are taken on board.

From here the club will hold an open meeting to let the public and any interested/concerned parties have their input and review on the plans, which should hopefully be in the next 4-6 weeks. Anyone interested in lending their support, time, help or anything, no matter how small, can do so by contacting Gus on 086 3685033 or Kevin on 086 0836930.

FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE

With the race night completed the fundraising committee will continue to work in the background. This committee is chaired by John Caplice and anyone wishing to get involved can do so by ringing John on 087 9630461.

FUN LEAGUES RETURN

Yes folks, the much awaited return of the fun leagues is upon us with Saturday, 6th April pencilled in as the initial start date. This slot will run for 10 weeks with the usual €20 entry fee applying. Enquiries to Gus on 086 3685033 or Garret 086 8502225 for more information. More details next week.

JOHN GILES WALK

The annual john Giles walk will take place on April 7th in Lismore. As the U11s won the league, we are asked to bring the entire squad in Kilworth Celtic kit to help promote the walk. This year John Giles himself will be present, so it’s sure to be a great day out. All U11 squad members please take note that we will require everyone to attend the walk as representatives of the U11 league winners.

After the walk the players will participate in 5-a-side tournaments, so all players will get some game time on the day. More details via the group text next week.

Training for the U11 squad is now finished for the season so well done to all U11s and see you again in Aug/Sept .
