Leading the charge locally to have the VAT rate on magazines reduced to 0%, Hanley’s Newsagents in Fermoy say the current 9% VAT rate is crippling the magazine trade in Ireland.

Magazines Ireland, the association of Irish magazine publishers, were recently unsuccessful in a request made to the Minister for Finance Michael Noonan, to reduce the VAT rate to zero in Budget 2016.
