Mother of two killed in Castlelyons crash

A 35 year old local woman has been killed when her car was in collision with an SUV on the Conna to Castlelyons road on Wednesday morning.

The Castlelyons area was rocked on Wednesday morning with the news that a 35 year old local woman had been killed when her car was in collision with an SUV on the Conna to Castlelyons road at approximately 8.30am.

The woman, a mother of two young children, was named locally as Pamela Ahern from the Kilcor/Firmount area.

The collision occurred on the R628 Castlelyons to Conna road a few kilometres on the Conna side of Leary's Cross at approximately 8.30am this morning. Ms Ahern was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was removed to the morgue at Cork University Hospital.

The road was closed to facilitate a forensic collision investigation and local diversions were put in place. The driver of the SUV, a man in his late 30s who was injured in the collision and was removed to Cork University Hospital, was reported to be in a stable condition on Wednesday evening.
