SUCCESSFUL RUN IN ANGLESBORO

There were lots of weary, but happy bodies around Anglesboro on Monday morning, after their successful run of ‘A Wake In The West’ in the local community hall last weekend. The group were surprised and delighted to see full houses for the run. Great credit is due especially to the audience who came to the opening night last Thursday, in horrific weather conditions.

This year, the group’s president Tom Roche, sponsored the presidents prize, which is a perpetual award which is to be given to the person who is deemed to have contributed the most to drama that year and we would like to thank Tom for his generosity. Our director, Willie Carr, who did a fantastic job, was chosen by a select committee to be this year’s worthy winner and was delighted to accept the award. The drama group are once again indebted to Willie for his guidance throughout the year. His wealth of experience and attention to detail was evident each night. Thank you Willie!
Shows like this do not just happen. We depend on a large group of people to help out and the group would like to acknowledge their contribution: our stage manager John McGrath, our production coordinator Nora Quane, Stage hand Ian O’Connor, Emer O’Connor and Mary Gordon for continuity, Seamus Gordon for lighting and sound, Diane Quane for make-up, Katie Glavin for artwork and poster design, Tom and Breda O’Carroll for costume; the community council for the use of the hall; the large number of local volunteers who parked cars, did the door, introduced the show, organised the raffle, served teas, brought food, fed us during rehearsals and shows, washed up and looked after our audience - a sincere thank you to you all.
Anglesboro is so lucky to have such great community spirit. Thanks to those who brought spot prizes and to our generous sponsors - too numerous to mention. Thanks to our FAS workers who ensured that the hall was spick and span for each show. A big thanks to the lads who dealt swiftly with the plumbing emergency on Sunday night. Well done lads! Thanks to our audiences for coming to see the show. A very special thank you to our families for your patience and support during the months of rehearsals. We could not have done it without you all.
The group would like to extend a big congratulations to Keith Hanley who performed on The Voice of Ireland on Sunday night. There was huge applause from the audience, when MC Michael Lewis announced that had been voted through to the next round. Keith has performed on the Anglesboro stage on several occasions at the Galtee Gaels fashion show. The cast and crew were watching the show backstage and voting furiously before our show started. Well done Keith!
As in previous years, we will be having a thank you evening at a later date, for all our helpers. Thanks again, from the bottom of our hearts, to everyone who helped out in any way to make last weekend such a wonderful success.
