REGRETTED DEATH

The death occurred on Tuesday, 16 April peacefully in the loving care of the staff of Maria Goretti Nursing Home, Kilmallock, of a very popular local lady, Peg Foley (Spa Road and Ballyhoura Heights).

Wife of the late John Joe, she is survived by son John, daughters Chrissie and Geraldine, sons-in-law John and Dave, sister Esther, brother Joseph, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, grandchildren and great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and a large circle of friends, to whom sincere sympathy is extended.

Peg was reposed at McCarthy’s Funeral Home on Thursday, 18 April before removal to St Andrew’s Church, where the requiem Mass was celebrated on Friday, 19 April. This was followed by burial in the local cemetery. May she rest in peace.

BIRTHDAY WISHES

Congratulations are extended to the following who celebrate birthdays at this time: Maureen O’Connor (Lower Main Street) on Monday, 15 April; John O’Donnell (Vale View) and Pascal Clancy (Ballyroe Lower) who celebrated their birthdays last week.

CHARITY SKYDIVE

Would you jump out of a plane at 10,000 feet to raise money for the Cliona Ring Foundation? If not, maybe you would like to support Eimear Weeks who will be doing her skydive this Saturday, 27 April? All money raised will be going to the Foundation as she is covering the cost of the skydive herself. Sponsorship cards are up in all the local shops or you can donate online at www.mycharity.ie/event/eimearweeksskydive.

KILFINANE JUNIOR CHESS CLUB

The chess club has finished for this season. Prize giving night will be in May on a date to be announced.

COMMUNITY GAMES

The closing date for entry into the following competitions is approaching. Please contact Olive Weeks on 087 2377617 if interested in entering. U13 tennis, U14 Photographic Competition, U14 camogie, and U12, U14 and U16 skittles.

FOREIGN STUDENTS

TENNIS COACHING

Would you like to learn a new sport in a fun and relaxed environment? Hospital Tennis Club are organising tennis coaching for new players or for those who want to refresh their tennis skills. Club night continues every Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30.

CHURCH GATE COLLECTION

This weekend, Sat 27 and Sun 28, the Fianna Fail National Church gate collection will be taken up at Kilfinane at Masses on Saturday and Sunday.
