The Scoil Fhionain, Kilfinane girls chess team came joint 2nd in the All-Ireland Primary School chess final held in Limerick on 10th May. They were competing against teams from Dublin, Galway, Mayo and Cork.

Ten teams and some individuals competed. It is the first time that the school has entered the girls competition. The team consisted of Catriona Brazil Carroll, Roisin Tan, Kate Mackessy and Danielle Magner.

In the individual competition, Catriona came in 2nd place. A great result for the girls. Two girls from 5th class, Martha Brazil Carroll and Charley Quinn, also competed as individuals and are keen to represent the school next year.
