Dead dog dumped near Kilworth range

“I felt sick when I saw it. The poor old dog to have met that kind of death in old age. He should have been buried at least. It’s sickening that someone can do that.”

A dead dog, missing its head, was the scene which greeted a walker near the Kilworth range on Friday last.

The concerned citizen told The Avondhu that the dog was dumped inside a gate near the first crossroads going into the range from the Kilworth/Fermoy side.

She said that she the dead dog would have gone unnoticed, had her own dogs not sniffed it out and discovered it.

"It looked like an old dog, but I couldn't make out the breed. It hadn't been there at 3pm the day before and was there this [Friday] morning," the woman said, speculating that it must have been dumped there overnight.

"I felt sick when I saw it. The poor old dog to have met that kind of death in old age. He should have been buried at least. It's sickening that someone can do that," the walker added.
