Rita Walshe from Kilally in Kilworth was at a wedding in Limerick on Saturday, July 13th when she was approached by a man who told her he'd received a call from his dad, Mike Kelly who knew her, to say she'd been selected to appear on the National Lottery's Big Money Gameshow. He told her his dad Mike was a huge fan of the show, so Rita promptly invited him to attend the show last Saturday night, along with herself and members of the family who were travelling in support!

Rita bought the scratchcard in Herlihy's Centra in Fermoy and posted it off herself. The well known Kilworth woman has been married to John for 39 years. They have three children, Una, John and Niall and two grandchildren with another on the way. Her son John, his wife Marie and their children Jack and Clodagh are on holidays at present and couldn't attend the show. Rita told show hosts Brian Ormond and Sinead Kennedy that in her spare time, she likes spending time with her grandchildren.

LUCKY STREAK CONTINUES

Rita appears to be a lucky woman. Just last week she won a holiday from the Irish Examiner newspaper and previously she won €1,300 on the pools, a television, video and a Butler's chocolate hamper all in the one week! She told the show hosts she believes a far greater power is looking out for her.

Her appearance on the show proved to be her luckiest event yet, netting her €37,000. Rita plans to share her winnings with her family and intends treating John to a holiday - maybe even a cruise!
