Cork Racecourse Mallow has hailed the success of its three-night Friday Night Racing Series, which concluded with a lively final summer evening fixture at the track on Friday last.
Across the series, which featured meetings on Friday, 10th July, Friday, 24th July and Friday, 14th August, racegoers enjoyed an exciting blend of competitive racing, strong hospitality, live music, style, and social atmosphere — underlining Cork Racecourse Mallow’s reputation as one of Munster’s most welcoming racing and entertainment venues.
The Friday night fixtures proved a major hit with friends, work groups, racing fans and social racegoers alike, with hospitality, dining and social packages all performing strongly across the series.
Highlights included the opening night Ladies Day, with stylist Marietta Doran on hand to judge the Best Dressed competition, as well as a memorable evening of live music after racing from Declan Nerney. The series also featured a poignant and unforgettable racing moment as the hugely popular Hewick bowed out, bringing the curtain down on a remarkable career that captured the imagination of racing fans far beyond Cork.
Racecourse Manager Eoghan O’Grady commented the response to the Friday night racing series has been extremely encouraging. “We are absolutely delighted with how the series has gone. From the racing itself to the atmosphere, the craic, the music after racing and the support from the public, it has been a fantastic few weeks here at Cork Racecourse Mallow. Across the three evenings we saw exactly what we hoped for — people coming together, meeting friends, enjoying good racing and having a really enjoyable night out. Our wonderful sponsors, hospitality guests, annual members, racegoers, owners, trainers, jockeys and all our team here at the racecourse played a huge part in making the series such a success. In fact, sponsorship and hospitality really thrived throughout the three Friday nights, and we want to sincerely thank everyone who supported the fixtures and helped create such a brilliant atmosphere.”
The series demonstrates the appetite for racing as a social occasion, proving an ideal setting for after-work gatherings, group nights out and relaxed summer entertainment. Sponsors across the series helped add to the strength and profile of the fixtures, with hospitality areas busy and racegoers making the most of the venue’s dining, social and entertainment offering.
