All bets will be on the table on November 8, as Kildorrery Community Development Association and Kildorrery GAA Club will be hosting a night at the dogs in Curraheen Park to raise funds for both organisations.

There was a great turnout at the launch on Friday last, as the event was promoted as being a good value, family friendly event, which will raise money to develop a car park at the newly acquired land behind the community office and for a spectator stand, which is part of Phase 2 of the grounds development project in the GAA club.

This is the first time that both organisations have pooled their resources to organise a benefit night and the committee members are pulling out all the stops to ensure a great night for everyone.

Adult tickets for the night cost €10 and include access to the races plus a race programme and inclusion in a draw for a weekend away in Killarney. There will also be a raffle on the night with numerous prizes on offer. Juveniles (under 12) will be admitted free of charge and juvenile tickets (12-18) will be available for €5 at the track. 

Speaking at the launch night, Tom Fox Chairman of Kildorrery GAA club said that the club is indebted to all of the sponsors, without whom the event wouldn't be possible. 

He also thanked everyone who placed ads in the race card, those who nominated greyhounds, sold tickets and have helped in any way.

"The proceeds will be used for very worthwhile projects to improve the facilities in the Parish, which we hope will be there for young and old to enjoy for years to come," Tom Fox said.

The vice-chairman of Kildorrery Community Development Association, Ted Enright added that they are delighted to be part of such a high profile event and they are very grateful to the members of both organisations who are putting so much effort into the event.

"We acknowledge that in the current economic climate, it is becoming more difficult for people to support their local community and we express our deep appreciation for all of the support we have received so far. I hope that the whole community as well as people from neighbouring parishes will see the work that has been done in Kildorrery to date and get behind this venture and help us in our endeavours to further improve the facilities in the Parish," he said.

Tickets for the night at the dogs in Curraheen on Friday, November 8, are available from the Community Development Office, Main Street, from GAA club officers and members and also through local retail outlets in Kildorrery.
