Businesses are being invited to participate in an innovative wellbeing initiative for workplaces in counties Cork and Kerry.

The ‘Make Or Break’ programme promoted by Cork County Council Library and Arts Service, brings creativity to workplaces through a series of free lunchtime workshops across a range of creative activities, including bookbinding, illustration, photography, clay sculpting, printmaking and more. Designed to be both enjoyable and relaxing, the central focus of the programme is to offer employees the chance to get creative and to promote mental wellbeing.

Delivered through artist-led workshops, the scheme aims to foster wellbeing and collaboration within workplaces by making space for creative thinking, enhancing team dynamics, encouraging innovation, and supporting wellbeing through the cultivation of a positive workplace environment.

Workshops are delivered onsite once per week over a six-week period, with flexibility to accommodate shift schedules and break times. The programme is free for participating businesses, with all fees and materials included.

‘UNQUESTIONABLE’ BENEFITS

Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Joe Carroll is encouraging more businesses to get involved.

“The response to ‘Make Or Break’ has been remarkable. Last year, there was 1,017 creative lunch breaks enjoyed by staff in 15 organisations, with a further 15 organisations taking part so far this year. There are still some spaces remaining for businesses to get involved in 2025.

“All that is required is a space and staff who are willing to participate in these fun, relaxing, and interactive workshops, the benefits for both staff and businesses is unquestionable.”

Funded by Creative Ireland, ‘Make Or Break’ is a collaboration between Cork County Council, Kerry County Arts Service, HSE Southwest and The Crawford Art Gallery.
