Members of the Fermoy Camera Club have issued an open invitation to the public to view a year in the life of the town through the camera lens.
After a two-year break, the club is to resurrect its hugely successful Gala Night, with all proceeds going to the Fermoy branch of the COPE Foundation.
From 6.30pm on Friday, November 29 Fermoy’s Grand Hotel will be transformed into a bespoke viewing gallery as club members proudly display the fruits of their hard work over the past year.
One of the most progressive groups of its kind in the county, the Fermoy Camera Club has gained a well-deserved reputation for the consistently high standard of the colourful and often thought provoking images its members regularly produce.
Club spokesman David McCarthy, said the Gala Night will offer people the chance to view images taken by members in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere.
“We have a really enthusiastic core group of members, each of whom will regularly go to great lengths to capture that perfect moment in time through the camera lens,” said Mr McCarthy.
“The Gala Night is all about sharing our enthusiasm for photography with other people and perhaps encouraging them to join the club,” he added.
The Gala Night will feature entertainment from The Castlelyons Gospel Choir and The Fermoy Concert Band Quartet and refreshments in the form of finger food and wine.
As well as enjoying the images on display, guests will also be able to buy copies of their favourite photos for their own homes or as the perfect Christmas present.
COPE will also be selling their own selection of photos and Christmas cards as well as hosting a raffle on the night.
“It promises to be a really enjoyable night, giving people the chance to view some truly magnificent photographs, listen to some great local musical talent and enjoy a relaxed glass of wine,” said Mr McCarthy.
“It will also be the chance to buy that perfect Christmas gift for the person who has everything,” he added.
Tickets for the Gala Night, priced at €10, are available from Frank Morgan Photography or club members including David Murphy on 087-2461093 and Kate Murphy on 086-3849718.
