In the spring of 2012, Ballyhoura Development Ltd provided funding for a series of conservation and survey projects of the historic graveyards and now the results from seven graveyards in the Kildorrery parish can be viewed online.

The Kildorrery graveyard information has been recorded and the information is being currently compiled to be made available online shortly. All of the details can be viewed through www.historicgraves.com or www.kildorrerycommunity.ie.

For this project, archaeologists joined up with community groups to document different elements of heritage, local history and genealogy and the online resource has proved invaluable to those trying to track their roots and make accurate family trees.

Several graveyards in the Ballyhoura region have already been recorded and this now includes St Molagas Aghacross, St Colman’s Farahy, St Nathlash Rockmills, The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Carrigdownane, St Bartholomews Kildorrery (Church grounds) and Labbamologga.

The community is indebted to the local volunteers who carried out this invaluable survey and would like to thank Lena and Frank McCarthy, Joan Casey, Mary Walsh, Linda Murphy, Lucy and Sally Roche, Kathleen Griffin, Nora Curtin, Carmel McGonnell, Brenda Hennessy and Conor O’Brien Mitchelstown, as well as archaeologists Colum Hardy and Will O’Shea, for leading the team and publishing the survey online.
