Robert Hanna, Mitchelstown would like to thank a number of people for raising funds for the Kenya Project in which he is involved, and those who have been really supportive of the Kenya Project for the last few years.
These include Shelly Walsh and all who supported her in the Kilbehenny area; friends and family who have taken sponsorship cards out , not just this year but in the past years also and the management and staff (and customers) of SuperValu, Mitchelstown for the bag pack on October 24th.
“We raised just over €600 on what was a very wet day and evening in town. Thanks to everyone for your donations as, without all of you, no one would be able to take part and volunteer in the Kenya project. Times are very hard at the minute but people in Mitchelstown and the surrounding areas have been fantastic in their support,” Robert said.
“On behalf of Fiona and Mags, I would like to say a huge thanks to everyone from the Ballyporeen area, from the school and community who have supported the girls in all their events of late. Thanks to Casey’s Bar for the ‘take your pick’ night; the people in shops and the post office that helped sell the tickets and for those who helped bake cakes and sell them at the cake sale. The girls are well on their way now and are really excited about their trip. I’m sure they will have a lot to show and tell you on their return.
“On behalf of Brian Walsh, I would like to thank all who turned up at the fancy dress in Willie Andie’s and the bingo night on Monday. Brian, who like myself, is also a local from St Fanahans Place, is really looking forward to heading over and volunteering in Bridge’s centre. They will by now, have got their vaccinations at the medical centre in Mitchelstown, so thank you to Declan and Eileen who have made sure that they can travel over sand back safely.
“Lastly, I would like to mention that Brian has a coffee morning on Saturday in the town hall from 9am until 11am. Come along and enjoy some tea, coffee and cakes – it should be a lovely morning.
“I would encourage people who may be interested, not to be afraid to ask more about the project or if you feel you may like to be apart of a group in the near future.
“Fiona and Mag’s final event is in The Doolis Bar on Friday at 9.30pm. It’s a table quiz night with great raffle prizes also to be won, so come out and enjoy.
“Following the group’s return home, a get-together will be arranged for anyone that would like to attend or to know more about the centre that we visit and work with in Nairobi. There will be a slide show and past volunteers will be on hand to answer questions – plus tea and cakes – all free of course. Once again, thanks for your support.”
