Fine Gael activist from Ballylanders, Tom O'Donnell is calling for a number of changes and improvements to be made to the village of Ballylanders.
Tom told The Avondhu that he has the support of TD Patrick O'Donovan and he is calling on Limerick County Council to carry out a programme of works to improve the main street in a number of ways.
Tom said that the main street could be greatly improved if it was lined properly with cats eyes on the road and he said that the footpaths need to be redone and loading bays, disabled car parking spaces and double yellow lines should be put in place.
He also argued that the village would benefit from having the Garda station reopened with two or more gardai stationed there, so that it could act as a sub office to the headquarters in Bruff.
Tom added that for the safety of pedestrians in the village, pedestrian crossings should be put in place at two points in the village, by the Credit Union and by the Church, while a traffic warden could also monitor parking in the town.
Further to this, Tom told The Avondhu that the Government should be looking at job initiatives to see how jobs could be created in Ballylanders.
With a few small changes, the village of Ballylanders could be greatly improved and if the roads were in better condition and businesses moved into the village, it would entice more people to live in the area.
