Watergrasshill GAA Night at the Dogs
One of the club’s great clubmen and players, Pat Ryan has been named as team manager of the Ballyporeen team that is heading to the USA this Christmas.
Pat will travel with the seven young boys namely, Jason Cahill, Mikey Maher, Ceallach Hennessy, Jason English, John Ryan, Jack Coughlan and Adrian English to the USA this Christmas to take part in the USHA junior nationals. These championships both 40/20 and 1-wall competition will be played at the famous Los Cab Sports Centre in Los Angelus between December 26 to December 30.
This will be a historic trip for the club with all the clubs top young players making there first handball trip to the USA and Pat will be overseeing the trip and helping the young lads in their quest for USA glory.
Pat has won all the major honours in the game, winning county, provincial and All-Ireland success during his career. But his biggest win to date came at the 2012 world championships where he won the Golden Masters B Singles 40/20 World title. Pat has been a superb clubman, been chairman and secretary on a number of occasions. Pat was the driving force behind the redevelopment of the courts in 2006 and at present is an active committee member.
The club are delighted to have Pat travelling with the young lads as he has travelled to the USA before on handball duty when he took part at the world championships in Portland in 2009. Pat’s son John will be one of the seven lads travelling making it a family affair.

The list, supporting our historic trip to the USA at Christmas is growing with Bulmers, Clonmel been the latest firm to lend their support to our young handballers trip to the USHA junior nationals.
The club are delighted to have Bulmers, Clonmel supporting this trip and are very thankful to them for their support. They are an excellent company who give great employment and financial support to the local community. The club wish to express thanks to Bulmers, Clonmel and to Tara Guiry and Paul O’Sullivan for their help in supporting our young lads trip to Los Cab this Christmas.

Belfast win makes headlines
Jason English’s great win recently at the 1st 40/20 tournament of the new GAA handball season made big headlines on the GAA handball website. Jason made the long journey to Belfast for the annual Golden Gloves tournament where he won the boys U15 singles title. GAA website wrote about the tournament and gave huge praise to Jason saying this exciting young talent from Tipperary excelled at the recent Golden Gloves tournament.
Ryan wins
John Ryan made a winning start for club players in the County 40/20 2014 championships when he travelled to Horse & Jockey last Saturday evening and recorded a 21-11, 21-8 win over Adrian Power (Ballina) in the county minor 40/20 singles quarter-final. John played well to record a comfortable win to advance to a semi-final clash against Daniel Hayes (Cashel) which will be played this Saturday, November 16 at 5pm. Venue to be decided.
County 40/20 Championships
The 2014 40/20 County championships is currently underway with the club having a number of players in action. Jason Cahill meets Ger Foley (Ballinahinch) in the County U21 singles semi-final on this Saturday 16 in Cashel at 5pm. Anthony Crotty is also playing on the same programme where he meets Justin Cahill (Lahorna) in the other County U21 singles semi-final.
Willie Cahill is in action on Monday 11 in the Horse & Jockey at 7.30pm where he meets Sean Maher (Cashel) in the junior B singles 1st round. Willie Cahill and Jason Cahill will be in action in the junior B doubles quarter-final on Monday 18 in Silvermines where they meet Gerry Foley and Denis Lenihan (Ballinahinch). Further fixtures over the coming weeks.
Membership due
Club membership for 2013/14 is now due. Fees to any committee member or club treasurer Michael English, Ballywilliam. Fees are adult: €20, family €40, juvenile €10.
