Further information is awaited by the planning section of Cork County Council from the developers of a proposed major wind farm, to be sited between the villages of Dungourney and Castlelyons.

A record number of objections were lodged against the plan by Ardglass Wind Farm Ltd., which would see 11 wind turbines larger than any previously constructed in this country erected. The developers are a partnership between Enerco Energy Limited, local landowners and Coillte.

FURTHER INFORMATION

Planners at county hall are seeking answers to 29 different questions they've posed to the developers. They have six months to comply with the request for further information, bringing it up to January. The developers can seek a three month extension, after which time Cork County Council will make a decision on the planning application.

Whatever that decision is, it's likely to be appealed to An Bord Pleanala by either side.

FUNDRAISER

Members of the Ardglass Wind Turbine Action Awareness Group are planning for such an eventuality, fundraising at present to be prepared to employ experts to argue their case if it goes to the planning appeals board. One such fundraising event is a social night this Saturday night, December 14th in Smarts Bar in Ballincurrig. There'll be music and refreshments and a raffle will be held, getting underway at around 9pm. All are welcome.
