The always enjoyable Strawhall Nursing Home Christmas party took place last Sunday. The tree, holly and festive decorations were up for a seasonal get together where music features prominently.

While proprietors, Ned and Margaret Rice could settle for a one man band, that's not the Strawhall way and there was a touch of the '12 Days of Christmas' about it when 7 musicians trooped in to perform. The unofficial band leader is Pat O'Connor who has been a good friend to Strawhall Nursing Home over the years.

Speaking to The Avondhu about the party, Pat said it was something he always looks forward to. "It's a special occasion at a special time of year and I'm delighted to be associated with it. People were probably surprised to see 7 of us turn up but it worked out fine, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves" said Pat.

Pat was anxious that the other musicians be acknowledged, namely: Liam Roche, Denis Dwyer, Noel Hallinan, Tim Sheehan, John Hunter and Gerry Feerick. According to Pat, the band join up from time to time and perform collectively as 'Cross Keys'.

Strawhall is one of Fermoy's most established nursing homes and has provided the elderly and infirm with an outstanding level of service since 1988. While facilities are very important, the biggest asset Strawhall Nursing Home has are its dedicated team of carers - all committed professionals who take a personal interest in every resident.
