There was a large seizure of tobacco near Mitchelstown on Saturday when a UK registered car was stopped on the M8. Arising from the swoop, a man in his 40’s was questioned by revenue and Gardai.
60,000 cigarettes and 45 kilos of tobacco with a total value of €46,800 were seized at around 7am on Saturday morning as was the man’s vehicle.
A file is now being prepared for the DPP. The Avondhu understands that customs officers have been monitoring the Mitchelstown area for some time.
