Cork County Council has refused an extension of duration to planning permission, granted previously for a large new housing estate in Rathcormac.

Brideview Developments Ltd. was granted planning permission by the county council back in 2008 for 105 houses and a multi-use games area, local play area and ancillary works. The Board of Management of Scoil Bhride National School appealed the decision to An Bord Pleanala who upheld planning with revised conditions but, with the downturn in the economy, the development wasn't proceeded with.

A number of developers have, in recent years, sought to keep their planning permission current on projects they haven't developed as the Blackrock based development company was doing.

This time, Brideview Development Ltd.'s application was for 93 houses of different types, 12 less than proposed in the original plan. 67 were to be three-bedroom, 11 four bedroom, 12 two bedroom and three four/five bedroom.
