WEEE Ireland, the Irish compliance scheme for electrical and battery recycling, is holding a free recycling day in Mitchelstown on Saturday 22nd February in the Tesco car park from 10am to 4pm.

All batteries recycled on the day will go towards the “Spread a Little Sunshine” campaign in aid of LauraLynn, Ireland’s Children’s Hospice. This year WEEE Ireland is hoping to, at least match, the €45,000 fund previously raised for LauraLynn by increasing battery recycling in Ireland by 20% on last year.

If you can’t make the collection event on February 22nd, you can also get involved and make your donation in the following ways: Bring waste batteries back to any retail outlet that sells similar batteries, or recycle them for free at your local civic amenity site along with any electrical items you have for recycling, or at other designated WEEE Ireland collection days. Anything in the home with a battery or a plug can be recycled at the February 22nd collection.
