Croom-based Fianna Fáil Local Election candidate, Séamus Sheehan, has welcomed the announcement that Regeneron Ireland has been granted planning permission to construct its new facility at the site of the former Dell plant.

The candidate for Rathkeale/Adare commented: “The news that Regeneron Ireland has been granted planning permission by Limerick County Council is very encouraging news and is a significant boost for the Limerick area.

“The construction phase of the project will create 600 temporary jobs and when the facility is complete there will be 300 full-time positions created.

“The €218m investment in biopharmaceuticals at the site of the old Dell plant by Regeneron is significant and heralds a new dawn for the site at Raheen Business Park.

“The investment by Regeneron is a sign that Limerick has a lot to offer and I hope it will encourage similar bio-pharma companies to look at establishing a base here.”
