No decision has been made as yet about where Lismore's town crest and chain of office will go when the town council is abolished, members were told at their monthly meeting on Monday night, March 3rd.

Councillor Ken Madden raised the matter, which had been aired at a previous meeting. He was told it hadn't been considered as yet. "It has been assumed it will go to the Heritage Centre," town manager Paul Daly told him. There's talk of it going to some national museum too, he told members.

He agreed to instigate discussions with the Heritage Centre about it. Cllr. Julie Landers reminded them that the family who'd presented the chain of office wanted it to go to the Heritage Centre or the castle.

Cllr. Orla Russell said the castle wasn't open to the public. She preferred to see them go somewhere they could be on public display. It was agreed to write to the family and get their views, but that ultimately it will be the decision of members.
