The Palace Players had an unexpected but welcome extra outing on Sunday night when they performed for a second time at the West Waterford Drama Festival in Ballyduff.

Having performed their production of ‘Einstein’s Gift’ on the Friday night of the opening weekend, they found themselves back again in the West Waterford venue due to the fact that a replacement adjudicator was appointed on Thursday night due to Mr Tom Doherty having been taken ill.

The group would like to thank all those who helped fill the house for a second time on Sunday night and to the festival committee for their help and co-operation and to adjudicator Mr Terry Byrne for agreeing to stay on for an extra night to adjudicate their play.

The group took second place at the Kerry festival in Castleisland on Friday night along with awards for best actor (shared between Sean Ahern and Eoin Hally) and best moment of theatre for the blackboard scene. However, despite receiving an extremely positive adjudication at the West Cork Festival in Rossmore, they were not placed when the results were announced on Monday night.

The group are left with two festivals to play. On this Thursday they take to the stage of the North Cork festival in Charleville and on the following Wednesday they will contest the Tipperary festival in Holycross. They await the results from the West Waterford festival which will be announced on March 25.
