In the first round of live shows on The Voice of Ireland, local eyes were on Kilbehenny's Kellie Lewis who had been busy all week visiting schools in the surrounding areas, as well as her own former schools. Kellie wowed both judges and the public with her rendition of Wings by Birdy, sailing through to the next round of the show.
The live show on Sunday last saw three contestants from each team take to the stage with one song each, who were then rated by the judges before public voting lines open. The person with the highest combined result progressed to the live show, while the individual judges then chose which contestant they wanted to carry through to the next round.
The judges gave Kellie an astounding result of 22, while the highest praise came from Kian Egan who said she had delivered the "performance of the night".
However, this was soon followed by Jamelia who acknowledged that while Kellie has a unique voice, she "didn't love it". The judge then went on with more scathing remarks amidst boo's from the audience, saying "I didn't enjoy it, I wanted it to stop".
Dolores who has been so far quite taken with Kellie's performances, gave her high praise, saying that Kellie's voice is filled with hope and it made her "feel young again".
For Kellie and those watching at home, there was a tense wait after the Team Dolores performances, but she was to come out on top, as Dolores then chose to put Michelle Revins through. John Hogan Jr, who sang his own song, was sent home.
So stay tuned into The Voice of Ireland on Sundays on RTE1 at 6.30pm - remember that Kellie needs public votes to stay in the competition!
