Given the year we’ve had, communities seem to have pushed the boat out with the erection of Christmas lights. As a result, towns and villages across The Avondhu catchment are illuminated spectacularly. 

Castletownroche, on the banks of Awbeg River, certainly hasn’t let the side down and whether approaching from the Fermoy or Mallow direction, you are met with a wonderful spectacle. 

In Castletown’, they added another element to proceedings by organising a tour of the village by Santa and his elves – in this instance, horse power trumped reindeer power.
