Kildorrery Community Development Association have started to roll out a text alert system and are currently appealing to people to join the scheme, which will make their community safer.

When a member of the public reports something of concern to the gardai, by calling the Kildorrery station (022 25162) or the Fermoy station (025 82100), gardai will have the ability to contact the service provider for the Kildorrery text system. this in turn leads to the necessary information being passed onto everyone signed up to the Kildorrery Community Text Alert System.

The association hope to have the system up and running by the end of May and they are encouraging everyone to sign up to it, so that they can be informed of anything that might concern them in the community. Anyone who wants to sign up is asked to fill in a form and pay a fee of €10 to cover the costs of the system - forms are available from the community office and the local shop.

The text alert system was one of the many items which emerged from the public meeting, which was hosted by Kildorrery Community Development Association, before Christmas.
