Despite being the only Limerick councillor who is currently a student in UCC, Glenroe Councillor Lisa Marie Sheehy (Sinn Fein) was disappointed this week when she wasn't appointed as the Limerick City and Council representative on the UCC governing body.

Cllr Sheehy said that she was delighted to be part of the historic event that was the inaugural meeting of the new council held in the University of Limerick Concert Hall. Saying that although she went in with her eyes open, knowing what to expect, she was still disappointed at what transpired.

A "HARD OPPOSITION"

She told The Avondhu that the Fianna Fail and Fine Gael coalition were very clear and did not appoint anyone like herself to a position, which in her opinion would have made sense.

"The clear left group and myself shall not be bowing down for the five years in the council, instead we will be a hard opposition and will continue to fight for the people we are representing," she said, speaking passionately after the first meeting.
