Ballyporeen assault victim still critical

Gardai have revealed that a 66-year-old man assaulted in his home last week, is still in CUH in a critical, but stable condition.

Almost a week after being assaulted in his home, Gardai have revealed that a 66-year-old man from Ballyporeen is still in a critical, but stable condition in CUH.

The injured party was assaulted at his home in Kilcaroon, Ballyporeen on the afternoon of Thursday last, June 12 and an 18-year-old male who it is understood had been staying in the home of the injured party, was arrested.

The 18-year-old man is originally from Fethard and he was charged in Cashel District Court for the assault. He made no application for bail and will remain in custody until the matter is up for mention again at Cashel Court on Thursday, June 26.

On the day of the assault, the injured party sustained head injuries and was taken to South Tipperary General Hospital before being transferred to CUH, where he remains.
