The sad passing of Ballyduff men, Paul Kennedy and Raymond O'Brien was a huge blow to their families, relatives, neighbours and many friends. Out of that sad loss however, has come a massive fundraising effort that has yielded €8,400 for Brain Tumour Ireland, a voluntary group that offers support and assistance to those affected by this very serious condition.
Sandra Doyle and a number of colleagues from Brain Tumour Ireland were in St Michael's Hall, Ballyduff on Tuesday (8th July) to accept the impressive cheque from Anne Kennedy and Anne Cotter.
The money was raised thanks to the generosity of those who supported participants in the Dublin mini marathon, this was followed up by a local 10km walk from Cloonbeg in Ballyduff that attracted over 140 volunteers. This level of support surpassed all expectations and everyone who contributed was roundly praised at Tuesday's handover. Anne Kennedy said people's kindness and willingness to help was a great source of strength to both the Kennedy and O'Brien families. Both families wish to thank everyone who contributed or assisted in any way with the fundraising.
Many of those who walked and who raised money attended Tuesday afternoon's event. All were delighted to be able to do their bit for this very worthy cause.
