The results for the county final of the Cork County Council Anti Litter Challenge will be announced at an awards ceremony on the 4th of September in County Hall. The three villages participating are Kildorrery representing North Cork, Coolea (South Cork) and Drimoleague in West Cork.

Kildorrery have come second in the county final in 2010, 2011 and 2012 and this year everyone put in a huge effort for the final. During the week of the final the rota commenced at 7am each morning and continued on the hour throughout the day into the evening.

Thanks to all the business premises, shops and pubs for their co-operation during the competition and a special mention of thanks to Ger O’Sullivan for using his road sweeper when necessary.

Many thanks to the workers on the local Rockmills Group Community Employment Scheme, namely Frank McCarthy, Pat Lynch, Bob Hanna, Stephen O’Shea, Rodger O’Sullivan, Jimmy Martin, Tony Rice, Mary Downey and Pat Sheehan for their tremendous contribution during the competition.

THE STORE

The Tidy Towns Committee wishes to thank Jennifer O’Mahony for her very kind donation of the mural for the newly painted grain store on the Fermoy road. It is a beautiful scene depicting life in bygone days of a donkey and cart heading to the Creamery. It has greatly enhanced the building and is much admired by all.
