Over half of Irish men rely on their humour to attract women, while only eight per cent depend on their looks, according to a recent survey carried out by Cadbury’s Starbar campaign.
This research shows that while 56 per cent of Irish men consider themselves to be amongst the least attractive in the world, they also consider themselves the most charming.
However, men of the nation are not using this charm responsibly, as almost one in five admitted that they would seduce another guy’s girlfriend if they found her attractive, while 27 per cent would definitely consider it.
At the recent Indiependence music festival, some local young men gave their opinions on whether or not they agreed with these statistics.
“I think we are the most friendly,” Tom Keane from Fermoy said in relation to how charming Irish men are compared to other nationalities.
The men interviewed reflected a cultural trend that Irish men need to be under the influence of alcohol in order to have enough confidence to pull a woman.
“Drink is actually a big part of pulling women in Ireland,” said Oscar Bradley, who was also in attendance at the festival. “It’s a sad fact, but it’s true.”
“The perfect Irish woman would be a mix between Una Healy and Georgia Salpa,” added Tom.
This appears to be a common opinion, as the survey showed that men rated Georgia Salpa as the hottest girl in Ireland.
These men must also be ambitious, as forty six per cent think that they would succeed in pulling the Irish model, while more than one in four of these ‘charmers’ would dump their girlfriends for a chance to date her.
Yet despite their apparent confidence, 77 per cent of Irish men have still made an ‘eejit’ of themselves when tying to seduce a woman.
