Musgrave Retail Partners will once again hold their annual Musgrave Triathlon this year in aid of Breakthrough Cancer Research and Our Lady’s Children Hospital, Crumlin.
The event is taking place in Farran Woods on Saturday, August 30th, and this year the group have set an incredible fundraising target of €250,000.
Now in its 13th year, the triathlon will see over 500 staff members from Musgrave, SuperValu and Centra stores and their suppliers from across the country, come together to participate in the challenge and raise money for these extremely deserving charities.
The triathlon, which attracts both groups and individuals, includes an 800km swim, followed by a 33km cycle and a 10km run.
“I am delighted that Musgrave, together with our retail partners in SuperValu and Centra, can help raise vital funds in local communities across the country and make a great contribution to two very worthy causes that touch every community and town in Ireland,” said Martin Kelleher, Managing Director at Musgrave Retail Partners Ireland.
Joe Quinsey, CEO of The Children’s Medical and Research Foundation, said that this money will go a long way in helping the 130,000 children who pass through Crumlin Children’s Hospital every year.
“Sick children and their families deserve all the help and support they require. And they need it everyday,” he said. “No matter whether it is a minor injury or a life threatening illness, our children deserve the best facilities to match the amazing treatment they receive from the outstanding professionals in Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin, every year.”
The public can also donate funds for the cause by purchasing travel mugs, which will be available at the end of August in SuperValu and Centra stores. Musgrave, Centra and SuperValu have already raised over €3.5m for various charities through past triathlons.
