Mitchelstown CBS and the town’s rugby club U15 players gave a display of their talent during the recent Ireland v Wales U20s 6 Nations fixture.
The game was played in Irish Independent Park on Friday night. Twenty CBS students took the trip from Mitchelstown on Friday evening to watch the Six Nations game.
The young rugby players arrived early at the Dolphin Entrance on Pearse Road to soak up the pre-game atmosphere. Excitement started to build throughout a very entertaining first half of rugby which Ireland dominated.
Thanks has to go to Mitchelstown Rugby Club for providing new jerseys for the occasion. As the Ireland U20s side marched down the tunnel for half-time, the CBS team took the field to take on Carrigaline Community School.
Cillian Bohane of CBS said: “It was a brilliant display by both sides, with the CBS team just coming out on top with two tries to one.”
Cillian said it was a brilliant experience for the team to play in front of such a big crowd and they thoroughly enjoyed it.
“The excitement continued throughout the second half and all the way back to Mitchelstown on the bus. It was an evening that will live long in the memories.”
