Cheers Bar, Fermoy was the setting recently for a regional heat of the Molson Coors sponsored KWC (Ireland) World Karaoke Championships.

12 singers went to head to head in a competition where each competitor had to perform two songs. Judges for the evening were Mary Rossiter and Theresa Crowley, with Caroline Bailey the MC. Mary said the standard was high and selecting two qualifiers wasn't easy. She went on to thank Paul and Mary McNulty for hosting the event.

After considerable deliberation, the adjudication panel went for Dolores Dermody from Kilworth and Fermoy man, Eddie Hoare. Eddie, who describes himself as an old style rock 'n roller, was a popular winner, as was Dolores, whose gave a wonderful interpretation of 'I Dreamed A Dream' from Les Miserables.

The duo now advance to a county final in The Silver Springs Hotel, Cork on 24th October.
